Eye anatomy

You shall know basic eye anatomy in order to understand how IOL implantation may impact your vision quality, and why IOL optics type is important in order to give you freedom of glasses. 

The core principle is: the eye is a system of 2 lenses - cornea and crystalen lens. 

These lenses shall have an optical power, ideally suited eyball length in order to focus incoming light rays on the retina sharply.


Eye accomodation

Eye accommodation is a physiological process where the natural lens changes its optical power due to the force applied by zonular fibers. This adjustment shifts the eye from emmetropia to a state similar to "myopia," finely tuning vision to the required distance at any given moment.


Presbyopia is a natural age-related condition where the eye's lens loses its ability to change shape, making it difficult to focus on close objects. This happens because the lens becomes less flexible and the zonular fibers weaken, reducing the eye's ability to adjust its optical power for near vision.

Presbyopia correction

Presbyopia can be corrected with intraocular lenses (IOLs). These include presbyopia correcting IOLs, which are using different light bending technique to simulate accomodation. Different IOLs may give you different visual experience, and that's why proper IOL type and model selection is crucial for optimal visual outromes after the surgery.
